Brash American journalist Billy Chaka travels to Tokyo to cover an international youth martial-arts championship, only to discover that his filmmaker friend has been murdered. His investigation plunges him into a heightened world of yakuza gangsters, religious cults, underground clubs and a mysterious woman who may hold the key to the crime.
Daniel Shafer, Tobey Maguire and Mark Ross developed the adaptation for Sony Pictures with Academy Award winner Doug Wick and Lucy Fisher of Red Wagon Entertainment (GLADIATOR), screenwriter Ed Solomon (MEN IN BLACK, NOW YOU SEE ME) and four-time Academy Award-nominated director Gary Ross (SEABISCUIT, THE HUNGER GAMES).
