In 1980s California, veteran con man Jerry Swift teaches his teenage son Kevin the art of identity theft as they drift from one seedy motel to the next in search of the big score. When they take up with Colette, an ambitious young grifter determined to con her way into high society, shifting loyalties and competing desires threaten their volatile partnership. Reunited after Jerry’s release from prison, the three plan one final scam — if they can trust one another long enough to pull it off.

Daniel Shafer, Tobey Maguire and Mark Ross developed the adaptation with Radar Pictures for Focus Features with Academy Award-nominated screenwriter and novelist Peter Craig (THE BATMAN, TOP GUN: MAVERICK, THE TOWN) and Academy Award-nominated director Paweł Pawlikowski (COLD WAR).
