A star teacher takes a challenging new position in Downtown Los Angeles and is vilified by the community when a student vanishes under her care. Racked by religious guilt and public shame, she must confront her buried past and true nature as the Devil draws her toward his legion of fallen angels, threatening to destroy her final tether to humanity: her young daughter.

This is a family drama submerged beneath a supernatural horror-thriller. Think an urban THE WITCH with the occult descent of ANGEL HEART and the parent-child terror of THE SHINING.

The story examines how society demonizes people living with mental illness or addiction — and anyone it deems fallen. At its core, it asks whether people marked by tragedy, bad luck, or their worst mistakes can find redemption with so many forces seeking to exploit their vulnerability. It also explores the haunting history and mythology of the Los Angeles River.
