A post-apocalyptic action-adventure feature originally developed and set up by Daniel Shafer

Years after a massive solar flare destroys technology across the globe, an ex-soldier turned treasure hunter is sent into the ruins of Europe to recover the Mona Lisa. Hunted by a ruthless warlord and forced to rely on a freedom fighter, he discovers his prize could determine the fate of what remains of humanity.

Starring Dave Bautista and Academy Award nominee Samuel L. Jackson, with Olga Kurylenko and Kristofer Hivju.

Directed by veteran stunt coordinator J.J. Perry (JOHN WICK 2) from a screenplay by Matt Johnson and Nimród Antal (PREDATORS), based on the Red 5 Comics series written by Scott Chitwood and Paul Ens, with art by Wayne Nichols.

In 2008, Shafer set up AFTERBURN at Ryan Kavanaugh’s Relativity Media with Tobey Maguire and Neal Moritz’s Original Film (THE BOYS, THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS). He brought Johnson aboard and developed the screenplay with him. Sixteen years later, the film went into production under Endurance Media, with Original Film still attached and Johnson retaining screenplay credit.

Following its 2025 theatrical release, the film found a global audience on streaming, rising to No. 2 on MGM+ in the United States and No. 3 worldwide on Prime Video, while reaching No. 1 in France, Brazil, Mexico, Peru and Uruguay.
