A live-action feature adaptation of the Japanese anime series KEMONOZUME

For centuries, an ancient order of swordsmen has protected humanity from a race of flesh-eating monsters capable of assuming human form. When the order’s chosen heir falls in love with a mysterious woman, he discovers that she is one of the creatures he has sworn to destroy. Forced to choose between duty and desire, the lovers flee together as both humans and monsters close in around them.

Created by acclaimed filmmaker Masaaki Yuasa, KEMONOZUME premiered in Japan in 2006. The 13-episode series blends supernatural horror, martial-arts action and a forbidden love story.

Daniel Shafer and Tobey Maguire developed the live-action adaptation with screenwriter Michael Dougherty (X-MEN UNITED, GODZILLA, SUPERMAN RETURNS) and Madhouse.
